For Justin Kohler, wealth management is about more than getting the math right. It is about helping clients make decisions with clarity by balancing long-term discipline with the realities of life, priorities, and change.
Justin is a Wealth Advisor at The Fiduciary Group. His approach reflects a simple principle: advice should be practical, flexible, and grounded in what matters most to the client.
Justin is one of the rare breeds who went to school for the work he does today. He was drawn to finance early through an interest in markets and the client relationship side of the business.
He began his career in Philadelphia and gained early experience supporting an advisor managing significant assets. Over time, he realized he wanted to focus solely on wealth management. He moved into an RIA environment and took on more complex planning work.
As the cases became more sophisticated, Justin earned his CFP® certification to deepen his planning capability. Soon after, he and his wife made the move from the Northeast to Savannah, where he joined The Fiduciary Group.
Justin describes planning as a “living, breathing document,” something that should evolve as life changes.
“My job isn’t to tell you exactly what to do,” he explains. “It’s to provide advice around what your decisions will impact.”
That flexibility does not mean a lack of discipline. Justin sees his role as helping clients understand tradeoffs clearly so decisions feel informed and intentional, not reactive
When Justin begins working with a new client, he starts with goals and the practical framework. That includes short- and long-term priorities, and what the numbers can support. But he believes the process quickly becomes personal. He looks at both the client’s financial capacity and how they feel about money, because those two things do not always align.
He points to debt as a common example. Some clients view it as strategic leverage, while others simply prefer not to owe anyone anything. In Justin’s view, there is not a single right path. Success comes from building a plan that fits the client’s goals and mindset.
From there, priorities often include protection planning and estate planning. The goal is to ensure families are prepared for the unexpected and clear about the legacy they want to leave.
Justin describes TFG’s approach as long-term and quality-focused. The firm builds portfolios that fit the client, using the right mix of individual securities, ETFs, or funds depending on the situation.
While short-term market movement matter in the moment, he emphasizes durable ownership and thoughtful diversification. This is especially important in an environment where major indices can be heavily concentrated.
Rather than making changes for the sake of activity, Justin focuses on the bigger picture. He works to align investment strategy with the plan and helps clients stay consistent across market cycles.
When volatility rises, Justin hopes clients remember one thing. He reached out before they had to call him.
He keeps a pulse on who is most likely to feel uncertainty and focuses on proactive communication, context, and clear expectations.
If changes are made, he wants clients to understand why. He also wants them to understand what the firm is seeing over the next six to twelve months, including potential risks that may still be ahead.
Justin values The Fiduciary Group’s team culture, where advisors regularly pull in one another’s expertise based on what is best for the client.
Whether a situation calls for more detail-oriented planning, estate coordination, or investment implementation perspective, he appreciates that collaboration is the default, not the exception.
Clients often ask about headlines and what current events mean for their portfolio. Justin sees this as part of the advisor’s role. He helps clients stay grounded in a longer-term horizon when short-term noise feels loud.
He also wants clients to feel comfortable reaching out because, in his words, there are no wrong questions.
At The Fiduciary Group, Justin’s approach reflects steady priorities clients value most: clarity, discipline, and a relationship built on trust over time.
