Employee Spotlight: Michael McLeod

October 31, 2019

As a Savannah native, Michael McLeod always felt a pull to get back to his hometown. Michael attended Washington and Lee University in Virginia, where he met his wife Bradley just a few weeks into their freshman year. After graduating, they decided to move to Atlanta, where Michael worked for a large multi-national law firm.

Michael’s original plan was to attend law school, but he decided to shift gears and pursue a career in finance.  He was drawn to the financial planning profession because it afforded him the opportunity to apply his analytical skills while working directly with individuals and their families. After obtaining the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation and working in the wealth management field in Atlanta for a number of years, Michael and his family found an opportunity to move back to Savannah in 2012 and haven’t looked back since.

Michael joined The Fiduciary Group in 2019 and was attracted by the unbiased framework to deliver advice with an independent mindset and culture of integrity.  The CFP® practitioner is bound by certain standards in and of itself, which aligned perfectly with the firm. As a Wealth Advisor and Director of Financial Planning at The Fiduciary Group, the majority of Michael’s day revolves around clients, which includes reviewing cash flow models, optimizing balance sheets, assessing risks and opportunities, or meeting with clients to implement or updating financial plans. He particularly enjoys building relationships with clients over time and seeing the long-term impact. Michael understands that our clients lead busy lives, and working with them to develop sound financial strategies that reflect their own priorities and values allows our clients to focus on what matters most to them.

Outside of the office, Michael and his family enjoy just about any activity on the water.  Fortunately, the Georgia coast offers a lot to explore.  He is currently teaching his two daughters how to sail and has spent time sailing up and down the Atlantic coast and in the Bahamas. One day, he hopes to sail across the Atlantic and into the Mediterranean.  Additional items on his bucket list include attending the Americas Cup as well as the World Cup.
