TFG Spotlight: Hayden Blow

Written by TFGADMIN | September 23, 2026

As a Research Analyst at The Fiduciary Group, Hayden Blow is part of the investment team that supports portfolio research, construction, trading, and advisor conversations.

Much of Hayden’s work happens behind the scenes, but it plays an important role in the client experience. When advisors have more technical questions about a client’s portfolio, performance, holdings, or investment changes, Hayden helps provide the research and context needed.

His work reflects a core part of TFG’s investment approach: knowing what clients own, why they own it, and how those decisions fit within the broader plan.

Career Path

Hayden’s interest in investing began during the 2008 financial crisis. He was young at the time, but old enough to recognize that something significant was happening in the markets. That curiosity eventually led him to study finance and accounting in college and look for ways to gain hands-on experience.

One of those opportunities came through a student investing club, where students managed a real-dollar portion of the school’s endowment. At the end of each year, a portion of the profits helped fund scholarships for students in need.

That experience helped Hayden see investing as more than analyzing companies or following markets. It showed him how investment work could connect to real people and real outcomes.

That perspective helped steer him toward wealth management, where research and portfolio management could support clients as they navigate important financial decisions.

Role as Research Analyst

Hayden is involved in many parts of TFG’s investment process, including research, portfolio construction, trading, and support for advisors.

Although clients may not always interact with him directly, his work helps support the conversations advisors have with clients. If a client has a question about why a certain investment is held, why a change was made, or how performance should be understood, Hayden can help the advisor respond with more detail and context.

That access matters. At larger firms, investment decisions are often made several layers away from the advisor and client. At TFG, the people making and supporting portfolio decisions are closely connected to the client-facing team.

For Hayden, that structure helps create a more responsive and transparent experience.

Research & Investment Discipline

Hayden describes research as a cornerstone of TFG’s investment process.

Rather than relying only on outside fund managers or broad market exposure, TFG’s investment team takes time to understand what clients own and why they own it. That hands-on approach allows the team to evaluate investments through the lens of each client’s needs, goals, and risk considerations.

When researching companies, Hayden focuses first on business quality. He looks for stable businesses with strong prospects, capable management teams, and the ability to adapt through changing conditions.

Growth is important, but not at any cost. Hayden is careful to balance opportunity with risk, recognizing that two companies may look similar on paper but respond very differently when conditions change.

Portfolio Construction & Client Customization

TFG uses model portfolios as a starting point, but Hayden emphasizes that no two clients’ circumstances are exactly the same.

Portfolio decisions may be adjusted based on taxes, capital gains, client preferences, restrictions, or areas a client may want to avoid or emphasize. That customization is an important part of making sure the broader investment approach fits the person or family behind the portfolio.

Hayden’s role helps connect the firm’s investment discipline with each client’s unique situation. The goal is not simply to build portfolios that look good in theory. It is to help build portfolios that reflect the realities, priorities, and planning needs of each client.

Looking Beyond Headlines

Markets move quickly, and headlines can create pressure to react.

Hayden believes clients sometimes underestimate how much analysis happens behind the scenes before an investment decision is made. A headline may raise a fair question, but it rarely tells the full story.

TFG’s process looks deeper. The team considers company fundamentals, third-party research, industry context, and the potential second- or third-order effects of market events. That work helps the team avoid making decisions based only on short-term noise.

For Hayden, disciplined investing requires more than watching the news. It requires research, context, and a thoughtful understanding of what may actually matter for a client’s portfolio over time.

Path to The Fiduciary Group

Hayden came to Savannah in 2018 after being introduced to a wirehouse team through his great aunt, who was transitioning out of a wealth management role.

He spent about three years in that environment, working on the investment management side for a private client group. Over time, the role became more focused on asset gathering and sales, which did not align as closely with Hayden’s strengths or interests.

TFG offered a better fit: a smaller team where he could focus on investment research and portfolio management while still contributing to client conversations and seeing the impact of that work.

Today, Hayden works remotely from Charleston, where he and his wife moved to be closer to family and support her business while raising two young children. He remains connected to the Savannah team virtually and visits the office regularly.

Closing Thoughts

Hayden’s role reflects the importance of thoughtful, research-driven investment work.

While much of what he does happens behind the scenes, it helps support portfolio construction, advisor communication, and client confidence. His work also reinforces a key part of TFG’s approach: strong investment decisions require more than reacting to headlines.

They require research, context, discipline, and a clear understanding of each client’s goals.
